New mobiles with new features, specifications and glamor is being introduced into the market every single day. A few years ago, the shelf life of a handset model was in months, but now its in days. The mobile you buy today, gets outdated tomorrow and to all to the woe, its price also come down drastically. People, youngsters especially, get carried away with this trend and they want to change their “old” mobile and get the ‘latest’ one, which may soon become ‘old’. Personally I was into this vicious cycle of buying and selling mobile until a few years ago. But I stopped abruptly and struck to my mobile (N95 8GB) for over 3 years. Here are a few lessons I learnt over the period of time.
Don’t sell your mobile unless it becomes totally unusable. Don’t sell it just because you want another good-looking mobile or another model with more features. When you go to sell your old mobile, the buyer/dealer will give you a very low price. But for that same price, your handset model with similar age and damage, can never be bought in the second-hand market. But still we give in to the impulsive spending mode and sell it off. The dealer would sell it off for a much higher price. So always try to find a direct buyer. But that’s a very difficult thing to do. It demands a lot of time and patience.
Future proof yourself before buying a mobile, if you are crazy for features. Read a lot of blog, reviews, forums and user comments before making a decision. Choose a mobile whose features are scalable and upgradable. Choose a model that suits you and your lifestyle. Delay your purchase if you anticipate a better model launch. Be satisfied with your purchase and keep introspecting your decision once its made.
Mobiles are no more luxury. Your social status or sex appeal is not going to be rated based on the mobile handset you own. Instead it directly translates to your decision-making ability and street smartness. Spend wisely.

A write up like this one proves that our education system is best! our education system only has brought to this level. My children are idiots going to school. Our education makes us to watch movies for pure entertainment and not for message.

You are 100% right. Its always sad to hear people go bashing our education system (or our country) and forget that it is the education that has brought them to the level they are.

Giri,The answer to your question: What is the takeaway from this movie for the audience? For me, it was the "Pursue Excellence, Not Success!"I don't think they are really bashing our education system. Rancho tells ViruS " You know engineering better than me. I am just showing you how to teach". I think he means doing "User Centered Education"
Neither are they saying that Indian parents stress out their kids. Raju and Farhan's parents are supportive, just that they have certain expectations, and the problem lies in parents not knowing how to express their expectations and/ or teaching their children how to handle their expectations.
@Vijay I am not sure, but what could/would have you done in the 16 years if at all u didnt attend Indian Education..? How did Indian Education harm you to say its waste of time and energy..? Which Education System is best then..? Western..?

its not sarcasm mate… it the truth i have realized the hard way around… maybe now (its been 10 years i graduated out of the system) its more of a competitive business than competitive education… but the broad and strong foundation is unique to us… u have to be in the system and not outside to realize its potential…
@vijay for over 20 years I was living right next doors to Madurai Meenakshi Amman temple and always wondered and praised the 7 wonders of the world based on just what i heard and read. Until one fine day somebody started a campaign to make the MMA temple a world wonder, I never realized that I lived right next something as great as that temple. @Malavika Pursue Excellence and not success… yes that is definetley a takeaway. But its not common for everyone. Not everyone (like Raju) can risk that. For many its a do or die situation. Engineering cannot be preached. Its a set of rules. It got to be understood and later applied elsewhere. It aint like MBA or Arts. It has to taught how its taught now. It has to be applied practically like how Rancho says. and definitely engineering is user centered science and teaching engineering cannot be user centered coz u can't modify it based on how the users understands it the best.correct me if i am wrong.
@giri I didnt watch the movie yet. But one thing here, do you think our education is practical? can you show me some Indian authors in par with foreign authors?
like i said makka, all types of education can't be practical. if you want practical education, there is vocational stream and there are polytechnic institutes. most education has to be theoretical and its left to you to find the practical and applicative forms of it. and your authors statement is ridiculous. foreign authors, movies, music, and everything else is marketted well and thats the reason for popularity. Like @Malavika says, you have to look out for the excellence and not for the successful. right?
rite sir. i saw some engineers keep on calculating,calculating,,,,while the mestri comes simply comes,figures out the problem, give the directions for solutions(doesnt uses calculator most of the times..). When i saw the pallava, chola dynasty their inventions,, today engineers fail to create those architectures where their constructions collapses the next day they build
would you hire a maistri to build Burj Dubai? you need the engineers from India, China and Japan right? yet you dont need an engineer/architecht for a 2bhk independant house anyway! (bit off topic, i know) modern construction engineering is based on what we learnt from the ancient romans, pallavas and cholas…

Dude, don't equate Western = US alone. There are a lot of places to look around the world.With thousands of innocent lives lost every year due to unfair pressure, arrogant teachers, ignorant parents and what not, people gotta be freaking out of mind when they claim the current Indian education system is the best.
I dont have the expertise to comment on the western/US or european system of education. I dont want to talk about deaths and suicides. All I want to say is that we have an excellent system in place. It can lead you to excellence, success, suicide, murder or anything u want to. I just want to say that don't go about bashing the Indian Education system and the Indian Parental attitude, just because you read something in a book, blog or see something in the media. Exceptions and stray incidents can't be taken as examples to generalize.

Please call it a system that can help you find jobs. Please don't call it the best. It is nowhere near.

Can you decide not to send your kids to this "Much Hated System"?This system is like a kalpatharu. (A very effective one) It will give you what you want. You just have to ASK. [predominantly ppl have only asked for jobs and more salary]Its time we all stop being hypocrites and stop staring admiringly at the non-indian edu system.
@Giri and @Balaje, I was talking only about acceptance of this as an excellent system. However crooked the system be, I do think it is the only hope for millions of families in India. However, that does not make it the best. For a start, it is pushing students to end their lives for the FEAR of failure (this is very common story in newspapers everyday). It does not imbibe the value that learning is a continual process. Exam fixation. ….Balaje and I had some heated discussions on the same topic over 4 years ago along the same line.
I hesitated initially to jump into this debate because debate is a time consuming exercise with no body end up convincing the other. 
All I got to say is let us accept there are huge defects within and try to improve. This is not the best we can get. The ministry was trying to address something along the line when I was in India. Not sure what happened after. That is only for CBSE though. God save other boards.
lets assume that I accept ur POV. now who has the best education system in the world? (The americans? Harvards? Oxfords? Nigerians? Aliens?)what are its characteristics? why is it the best? and no need for heated disc. cool and open is good too
When we accept the faults, we will find our own solutions. There is no need to directly import what is best. Then it will be a right royal mess as our constitution. Something that works for them need not work for us. We need to develop something that suits us.One particular attempt at this was recently made by the HRD ministry when it said it will do away with 10th exams.

hey giri..jz saw dis series n came 2 d part of 'user centered education'..herez my 2 pence… d question is nt if engg can be made user centrd…question is if the art of teaching can be user centered and i think irrespective of the subject, it definitely can be, rather should be. There are practical concerns but they need to be met. Ultimately, it is about learning and about minds that absorb things in very different ways. V hv newton sitting under an apple tree, einstein soakin in his bath tub…who learnt sme very valuable things. I agree with u that our system trains our brain to cope up with the complex.That is a very valuable skill u acquire, thanks to which many don't feel guilty about wasting 4 years at engg school. Indian education system was originally Gurukul, something along the lines of Montessori system which is thankfully growing in India. Our teaching system, predominantly Macaulay's, needs 2 b enhanced in way where it inspires,provokes,makes us think and experiment from a very young age…it should go beyond producing off-the-mill students..beyond scoring 100% in math.
exactly aparna! I totally agree with you. My addition to yours is, that yes we have a wide angle education system which essentially cuts across wide areas but fails to touch lives. So why sit around and complain about it when we cannot do nothing abt it. Why not train our minds to acquire what ever is needed from the resource pool and evolve a self-learning attitude… (which many of us have done already…)
